Energy is Everything

I recently attended a Tony Robbins event and it had me in a highly energized state for 4 straight days. One of his foundational messages was high energy = high execution. Energy being the source of results and I agree! We looked at ways to increase our state of being. His method focuses on stimulating the body and mind through power movement and powerful voicing. And it works! Especially if you consider yourself an extremely high achiever or what some refer to as an A+++ personality type. But what if you feel you that isn’t who you are or your style? No worries there are other ways to focus your energy and still bring in the same results.  Yes, physiology plays a huge part in moving through limiting beliefs or the negative patterns of behavior we wish to change.

When we are in a beautiful state whether we get there through high impact energy or not, we move out of the fight/flight/freeze response and are able to bring in heightened awareness. The more we can shift out of anxiety, fear, and anger, the more we can access the kind of loving awareness we need to unlock the door that hides our blind spots. Once we see the blind spots, the gateway is open for massive action towards change. Did I just say massive action?! Yes, I did! And for some this sounds very scary. It’s like you mean I have to do something now? Yeah, you do.

Of course, we can certainly choose to ignore our blind spots, but what good is that if we want to create an extraordinary life?! It’s only when we clearly see our patterns and give ourselves the compassion we deserve that we can take steps forward to make the necessary changes. I mention compassion because often when we see our patterns, we do not like what we see. We then start to beat ourselves up and beat ourselves down. And of course, that really doesn’t serve us does it? It creates an emotional roller coaster of the “shoulds”, shame and guilt. UGH! Who wants to feel that?! Taking action even one small step starts to create momentum to keep going.

Be aware there are a few monkey wrenches that can really screw up our momentum when we start moving towards a bigger vision for our life. Emotions are probably, if not the biggest hurdle to cross.  Emotions control our lives and the quality of our lives. So, in order to get to where we want to go, it is critical to learn our emotional patterns, change what needs to be changed and be very consistent in our efforts to do so. This can take time and patience AND it is so worth it. We need to reflect on why we react in a particular way to a certain situation.

It all comes back to what we learned in childhood and all the messages that were layered on top of them into adulthood.  For example, let’s say your parents came from a family where money was tight and let’s say some of the messages they heard growing up were “people who have money are jerks” or “people like us have to work very hard for money”, or “we can never get ahead”. Oh, and maybe the society or culture they lived in contributed to the programming with the messages like “women do not belong in the workplace” and “if they do, they certainly don’t need to receive the same amount as men”.

These messages turned into a belief about money that limited their ability to get beyond the kind of life their parents had. It’s a belief that creates an emotional charge about money and a scarcity mentality that literally limits how far they can go. And now let’s say your parents did not know how to break free from this belief and they passed it down to you -what do you think you may believe about money? Interesting concept to consider isn’t it? And this is just one example of how early messages get programmed into our subconscious and how they show up in ways that limit us from achieving the life we desire.

Thoughts are another wrench that can get in our way of success. Think about all the habitual things you tell yourself that do not serve you well when you get “triggered’ with emotions. We typically focus on all the negative thoughts when our nervous system is stressed. It’s important to know this because we absolutely can train ourselves to reframe the language, the words, the thoughts into something better or an alternative. Examples of reframing thoughts are…

  • It won’t work – nothing ever works out for me – TO – everything will work out – the Universe is conspiring to make my dreams come true
  • I can’t do this – TO – yes I can do this – I can stop making excuses

Again, this may take time, patience and consistent practice. But yes, we can change our thoughts as well as our emotions and turn them into action (the energy) that brings us step by step to where we want to go and grow. If nothing else, remember this…energy flows where intention goes. So set your intentions, set your thoughts, your words and your emotions to live in a beautiful state. Stay the course, be consistent and before you know it, a change occurs, the suffering stops and you become free to create the extraordinary life you desire.

Is energy everything? Yes it is!
